In order to make Bella Bells, we have chosen our design to include cotton rope, as apposed to our signature hemp rope we use for toys. This is because it’s still natural, renewable and environmentally friendly.
When it's composted as disposal, cotton rope breaks down more readily than synthetic ropes in the environment.
On the other hand, we wanted it to be distinctive compared to hemp rope, as hemp rope contains a specific odour your dog might learn to associate with toys. This goes against its designed purpose.
We have also intended this design to be used only indoors, and long lasting.
How to train:
① Point at the bells and say the command 'touch'. When your dog touches the bells say 'yes' and give them a treat immediately. Repeat this several times.
Remarks: Dog training works best in short consistent bursts. Try this method daily for 10-15 minute sessions.
② Now we want to associate the bells with going outside to potty. When your dog touches the bells, open the door and take them outside. Give them a treat and praise them.
Repeat this step until until they are comfortable able to do this without your input.
③Now for the most important step- finally put a leash on your dog and repeat the steps to go outside, and take them to the potty area. Once they have done the deed praise and give them a treat.
REMEMBER - Don't rush your dog. Some may take more time than others to learn new tricks. Patience Persistence and Practice is the key in any training.
